Looking for a Treasurer- Because Math Is Not Our Spiritual Gift
We need to have a very honest conversation.
A serious conversation.
A slightly emotional conversation.
Possibly a conversation sponsored by coffee and mild financial panic.
Rest & Talk urgently needs a Treasurer.
Not eventually.
Not “whenever God opens the door.”
Not after another receipt mysteriously disappears into what we now call:
“The Bermuda Triangle of Ministry Paperwork.”
We mean NOW.
Because as many of you know, we are currently fundraising for God’s Rapha Retreat Centre and working toward securing $15 million dollars by the end of Summer 2026.
Yes.
Fifteen. Million. Dollars.
When we first said that number out loud, we all smiled in faith and then immediately looked around the room, wondering: “Okay, but who is tracking all of this properly?”
Silence.
One person started drinking coffee aggressively. Another suddenly became fascinated with the ceiling. Someone whispered, “God will provide.”
Which is true. But apparently, CRA and IRS still want paperwork. Very spiritual of them.
What is impossible for people is possible with God. – Matthew 19:26
Now, to be clear—we are NOT just looking for “someone good at math.”
We are looking for someone who genuinely has a God-given gift for stewardship, wisdom, organization, and understanding financial things without entering immediate panic mode.
Someone who can help us with ministry finances, donations, sponsorships, bookkeeping, and some CRA/IRS things that currently make the rest of us suddenly very prayerful.
Because right now our financial system occasionally looks like: coffee, faith, receipts, and somebody saying,
“I’m pretty sure I saved that somewhere.”
Meanwhile, somewhere out there is a believer who opens spreadsheets and feels peace instead of spiritual warfare.
Honestly, that person may be our miracle.
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. – 1 Peter 4:10
The Bible actually talks a LOT about stewardship, wisdom, and organization.
Joseph didn’t just interpret dreams—he prepared financially during years of famine.
Can we find anyone else like this man, so obviously filled with the spirit of God? – Genesis 41:38
Joseph organized resources wisely.
Meanwhile, we occasionally organize receipts by placing them in “very safe locations” and then never seeing them again.
Then there’s Moses.
Even Moses reached a point where his father-in-law, Jethro, basically told him:
You’re going to completely burn yourself out if you keep trying to do everything alone. – Exodus 18
Honestly?
That verse hit a little too personally.
Because ministry is not just prayer meetings and inspirational moments.
There’s administration.
Planning.
Structure.
Budgets.
Accountability.
Reports.
And eventually, somebody has to understand spreadsheets.
And currently, that person is hopefully reading this blog.
The trustworthy person will get a rich reward. – Proverbs 28:20
At this point, finding the right Treasurer sometimes feels like searching for a needle in a haystack.
Except that the haystack is on fire, someone spilled coffee on the paperwork, and another person just asked: “Wait… what exactly is bookkeeping?”
Deep silence.
Birds chirping.
One board member stares out the window, reconsidering life choices.
And honestly, we are not looking for perfection.
We are looking for someone faithful.
Wise.
Organized.
Trustworthy.
Calm under pressure.
Someone who loves God and wants to serve behind the scenes in a meaningful way.
Because this role REALLY matters.
This isn’t just about numbers.
This is kingdom stewardship.
Every donation helps the ministry.
Every sponsorship supports outreach.
Every organized report protects integrity and accountability.
Every dollar helps move the vision forward.
Even in the early church, ministry involved practical stewardship and people working together faithfully
They shared everything they had. – Acts 4:32
Faith and stewardship have always gone together.
Prayer and planning.
Vision and wisdom.
Ministry and accountability.
And honestly… we currently have a much stronger vision than accounting.
At one point, somebody looked at the ministry budget long enough and quietly said,
“Maybe Jesus can multiply this like the loaves and fishes.”
And honestly?
For a brief moment, nobody disagreed.
For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. – 1 Corinthians 14:33
Right now, our bookkeeping system is still trying to discover that peace.
We currently have receipts:
- in folders
- in notebooks
- inside jackets
- photographed on phones
- in random bags
- and possibly one recipient enjoying retirement somewhere inside a vehicle.
At this point, finding old paperwork feels less like accounting and more like an archaeological excavation.
Indiana Jones would thrive here.
But here’s the beautiful part about joining Rest & Talk:
You won’t just help manage finances.
You will witness God move.
You will see lives changed.
You will hear testimonies.
You will watch prayers answered.
You will experience powerful ministry moments.
And honestly, you will probably also develop advanced prayer skills after helping us organize receipts.
Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. – Ecclesiastes 4:9
At the end of the day, we truly believe God gives different gifts to different people.
David fought giants.
Noah built the ark.
Esther saved a nation.
Paul planted churches.
And somewhere out there is a believer capable of reconciling ministry finances without needing emotional recovery afterward.
That person is our hero.
So yes—we are officially looking for a Treasurer.
A wise, faithful, organized warrior of God who understands stewardship and can help guide Rest & Talk faithfully into this next season.
Please pray about this.
Send it to someone gifted in this area.
Or maybe… just maybe… God is speaking to YOU.
Because we pray.
You count.
And together we try not to accidentally file receipts under: “God knows where it went.”
